The Offspring - Rise and Fall, Rage And Grace

Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace, the eighth studio album from the OC punksters, is an impressive new set of songs from one of rock's most exciting and enduring bands. The Offspring entered the studio with legendary producer Bob Rock (Metallica, The Cult) to record 12 new songs culled from the most productive songwriting period in the band's history. This is the band's first full-length studio release in four and a half years, the longest gap between The Offspring's studio albums to date. 'Hammerhead' the 1st single from Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace debuted at #5 on the U.S Billboard Modern Rock Tracks and #18 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks respectively. The Offspring has performed over 1000 shows and they have sold more than 34 million albums worldwide, including their 1994 release "Smash," which more than a decade after its release remains the highest-selling album of all time on an independent label.

David Cook - Analog Heart

Analog Heart is the debut solo album by singer/guitarist David Cook. Though originally released as an independent record on May 6, 2006, Analog Heart sales jumped during Cook's appearance on the seventh season of American Idol.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Analog Heart won the Urban Tulsa Weekly's "Absolute Best of Tulsa" award for "Best Locally Produced, Independent Album" in 2007.[1] The album was chosen as the fourth-best CD released in 2006 by website Music Equals Life.[2]

On April 18th, 2008, Analog Heart was listed as the number one album for "Today's Top MP3 Albums" on Amazon.com, and David Cook was listed as number one for "Today's Top MP3 Artists". Soon thereafter, the album was removed from Amazon.[3][4] The album sold 900 copies in its last week before being removed, and 300 the week before that. Prior to those two weeks, according to Nielsen SoundScan data, the album had not sold more than 5 copies in a single week.

Aerosmith - Rocks

They'd soon crash, and hard, thanks to their own excesses. But Rocks captures Aerosmith at a crazily driven peak of creativity; anyone who heard it and continued to dismiss them as mere Stones clones was just being willful. This is blues rock cranked up to '70s stadium level, the sound of the Trans Am, or maybe the Porsches several of these guys (surprisingly) remember driving. The psychic battering they would succumb to on the next year's Draw the Line is foreshadowed in Joe Perry's "Combination," but he and Steven Tyler also celebrate the rock-star mythos on "Lick and a Promise." The party-fueled tension, the tension-fueled party. --Rickey Wright

Poison's Greatest Hits

Pop pundits might contend that a Poison greatest-hits collection should be an EP. Yet despite jeers from critics, these glam-metal pretty boys produced big hits, filled arenas, and fueled MTV in the late '80s. And the opening track on this 18-cut compilation sets the record straight: "Nothing but a Good Time," indeed. From down 'n' dirty rockers such as "Talk Dirty to Me," "Look What the Cat Dragged In," and "I Want Action," to mega-ballads "Something to Believe In" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," this is a treat for those who like big hair and bigger hooks. Included are two previously unreleased songs, "Sexual Thing" and "Lay Your Body Down," the latter a lush, likable five-minute power ballad. One complaint: the song-by-song notes by singer Bret Michaels somewhat lack the pizzazz one anticipates from a band with such a colorful comportment. --Katherine Turman

Blink 182 Greatest Hits

This greatest-hits collection spans the short career of one of pop-punk's most celebrated outfits, blink-182. The album features tracks from their 1994 debut Buddha through to the more experimental final album, 2003's blink-182. The album serves as a perfect introduction into the band's hook-driven pop-punk which has always involved a large dose of frat-boy toilet humor.

Green Day - Dookie

Dookie is the third studio album and the major label debut by American punk rock band Green Day. The album was the band's first collaboration with producer Rob Cavallo. Released on February 1, 1994 through Reprise Records, Dookie became a worldwide commercial success, reaching #2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and charting in seven countries. The album helped to propel Green Day into mainstream popularity, amid claims from the punk rock community that the band had "sold out".

Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction

Although this great album has a very simple but iconic cover of the 5 band members skulls placed on a crucifix, it was the bands second option after the first cover proved to be to controversial. The original cover was created by artist and Juxtapoz magazine founder Robert Williams. The artwork titled ‘Appetite for Destruction’ depicted a robot rapist about to be punished by a metal avenger. After MTV refused to play any of their videos the band compromised and moved the offending cover to the inner sleeve. I guess with MTV being the big make or break stepping stone for most bands around the 80’s and early 90’s and especially with Headbangers Ball being one of the most popular shows on MTV during the heyday of Metal and Hard Rock, it could have potentially been career suicide for the band. But for me i still think the second cover is more iconic.

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

Hybrid Theory is the debut album by the American nu metal band Linkin Park. Released on October 24, 2000 through Warner Bros. Records, the album was a huge commercial success selling over 20 million units worldwide, peaking at #2 in the U.S. Billboard 200 and reaching high positions in charts worldwide, despite receiving mixed reviews from publications. Recorded at NRG Recordings in North Hollywood, California, and produced by Don Gilmore, the album's lyrical themes deal with problems lead vocalist Chester Bennington experienced during his adolescence, including drug abuse and the constant fighting and divorce of his parents.

Four singles were released from the album: "Papercut", "In the End", 'One Step Closer", and the Grammy Award-winning "Crawling", the latter three of which were responsible for launching Linkin Park into mainstream popularity. At the 2002 Grammy Awards, it was nominated for Best Rock Album.

Faith No More - The Real Thing

The Real Thing is the third album by Faith No More, released in 1989. It was their first record with Mike Patton and became their breakthrough. On this album, Faith No More advanced their sound range combining heavy metal, Progressive metal, hip hop, funk, jazz, and soul. The music recording was complete by the time Patton (the singer for experimental/thrash/funk band Mr. Bungle) came on board. Patton wrote the lyrics and recorded them over the already finished music.

Slapshock - Silence

The 6th album of Slapshock entitled “Silence” makes another success in the music scene here in the Philippines. Their style of music became a little bit emotional (I don’t mean about emo punk) yet still heavy as it is. The style of the drummer has also improved as you will listen to their hit “direction”. Chi Evora performs the fast paced double bass beats which contributes to the “heaviness” of their music. As far as I’m concerned, their “growling” was reduced and their music is becoming almost friendly to the ears of the listeners. What I can say about their music is heavy and emotional

The Beatles - Rubber Soul

By the time they recorded "Rubber Soul," The Beatles were an unstoppable sensation with classics like "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "She Loves You," and "A Hard Day's Night" under their belt. "Rubber Soul," however, marked the band's first foray into the arty pop that would make up the bulk of their later efforts.
"Drive My Car" and the brilliant, lesser-heard "You Won't See Me" are certainly of the pure pop ilk, ditto for "What Goes On" and "I'm Looking Through You." And while these songs are all among rock's finest compositions, a more mature, forward-thinking spirit inhabits the likes of "Nowhere Man," "I'm Looking Through You," and "Wait." Three of the Beatles' finest ballads are featured as well (in fact, they're two of rock music's finest ballads), "Michelle," a country-tinged gem; the bluesy "Girl"; and the stately "In My Life," a masterpiece that gave the first true glance of the lyrical depth Lennon & McCartney were capable of.
